7-August-03: The European release of World of Dreams has been pushed back to September 16 due to a f##k up by the international postal service and the Australia Post.

Eternal Chapters is a double CD compilation of 26 Australian and International Gothic artists, and was compiled by Leigh as a document of just some of the artists who have featured on Sacrament Radio over the past ten years. Eternal Chapters is also a fundraiser for community radio station 2RRR, with all the money raised helping to keep 2RRR on air. As such, all the artists were generous enough to donate a song to the project. | “World of Dreams” is the second full-length CD for the Australian (Adelaide) based three piece band, Beltane. This CD incorporates a diverse balance of electronic and organic musical arrangement. Encompassing a vast range of styles, temperaments and flavours, it explores a juxtaposition of polarities and dynamic tensions. | |||||||||||||
| The
intricate melodies and counter melodies of the strings, guitars
and the celestial female voices, hover above a fundamental structure
of deep synthetic layering and ambient textures, ...driven by exuberant
drum and percussive rhythms. Through pushing the absolute threshold
of musical instrumentation within the songs, the aim was to achieve
a sound with an overall lush, symphonic character, without being
overwhelming. Indeed this was one of the main conquests and challenges
in writing this CD. The
songs on “World of Dreams” originated through a desire
to create and express a personal perspective of aspirations and
values –represented by the word beauty. The artistic expression
is driven from a poetic basis using the lyrics as an axis point
for the song to retain a coherent nature and quality, and to avoid
becoming abstract. |

5/12/01: New Beltane CD due in February
After negotiating a 3 album-recording contract with Melbourne record label
and distribution company Modern Invasion, Beltane have recently finished
recording a new full length CD. Scheduled for release early next year, the 9
track disk takes this bands unique slant of creating rich aural soundscapes
even further, incorporating more live instruments within the heavy laden
vista of rhythmic/electronic programming. So along with usual electronics,
female vocals, bass guitar, and electric guitar, - three top Adelaide
session musicians contributed some luxurious sounds of violin, cello, and
acoustic 12 string guitar.6/11/01: Beltane are now recording a new full length CD which will be out in Feburary. In addition to the usual performance by Paul Handley and Karina Eames, vocalist Emma Bradshaw, will be singing the lead on two tracks, and some session violin and cello will be incorporated. The recording is taking place at the usual, 'Mad Man' Nesci studios.

July 24: Karina wrote the lyrics for "Crashing Down" a song by the Goth Industrial, Finnish collective "SinMasters". The song is the feature release on a single prior to a full CD release out soon. To find out more go to www.actcom.fi . The band (or collective) has quite a few contributers including members from Two Witches and Lacrimosa.
April 28: A film clip for the song Kinship has just been completed. Central performance by Bonnie Radibratovic, the clip includes choreography by Simi Roche with her dance company, Diwali Dance House, of which the name 'Diwali' suggests, there is an Indian, eastern exotic feel, this also ties in with other imagery and the rest of the clip, a little Indo/Islamic influenced. A Dance-Theatre work of the song "Spell of Harmony" (intended as a visual representation), will be performed at the Space Theatre on Friday December 8 at the Adelaide Festival Centre, for a multi arts event called "Open Space 2000". Choreographed by Paul Handley, the work will be shot and edited on broadcast quality video. Performers are Paul Handley, Susan Nairn and Tarnia Hawkins.
Preparations are being made for a video clip of "The Fire of Becoming", resources for clips of other songs are also being sorted.
Karina's lyrics were used for a song on the "Sin Masters' CD just out from Finland they are sung by Jyrki Witch. Go to the Atcom link futher down this page for more info.
Beltane's last show was at the Crown & Anchor Hotel October 28 in Adelaide, no live gigs are lined up at this time.
Beltane's first full-length CD - "The Fire of Becoming" - Released September 2000. A culmination of songs and previous works in progress, developed over a four-year period. Music and Lyrics written by founding member Paul Handley. Recorded at (the exceptional), Nesci Studios, - completed August 2000. Largely operating as a studio project (with no fixed member line up as such), Beltane has the flexibility to involve artists where appropriate. The synthesisers, electronic programming and bass guitar are crafted by Paul Handley, and on this recording the vocals are performed by the three singers: Karina Eames, Bonnie Radibratovic and Sarah Manthey. Additional session guitar spontaneity expands the width and breadth of some songs even further. Whilst the songs on this disk focus and explore sensitive, yielding aspects of human nature, the dynamic energy is derived through embracing and defining the close relationship between various polarities. The light and dark aspects are inextricably entwined, placing delicate vocals and gentle synth melody, within a less forgiving, disconcerting environment. The diversity of textures, rhythms and atmosphere, exceed any specific genre and the music incorporates various elements of Gothic, Industrial, Ambient Electronic, World Dance, and New Age styles. The Dionysian Blood single version of the song "Angel of May" is featured on a Gothic compilation called "Dark Alternatives" put out by Actcom in Finland. The CD also includes Lacrimosa, Enochian crescent, Two witches, Thyrane, Terminal choice, Ancient drive, Neuroactive, Sinmasters and many others. Beltane have recently become more established with the release of their debut CD the ‘Dionysian Blood’ single a prelude to their forthcoming full length CD. The CD is released on their own label ‘Definitive Recordings’, and has national and part international distribution with the aid of a Melbourne company.
